Calling Baton Rouge

Our city and surrounding cities are drowning.

When New Orleans was under water the world couldn't look away because the news media covered it constantly, celebrities held fund raisers, politicians came for photo ops but the news media is too busy sucking at the Trump show teat now.

We don't matter, ratings matter.

8 out of 10 people that I know have lost EVERYTHING.

75 to 80% of Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Baker and Zachary homes still have water in them!

And now the water is rising in my parish, Ascension.

Our house is in one of the few dry areas.

Here's some of the numbers..

40K homes damaged by Louisiana floods; 10 killed

— More than 30,000: The number of people who have had to be rescued from their homes as flood waters rose.

— More than 15,000: The number of people staying in shelters.

— More than 2,000: The number of evacuees staying at a large film studio complex that has been turned into a makeshift shelter.

— More than 500: The number of pets rescued.

— 48 hours: The amount of time a torrent of rain fell across parts of south Louisiana.

— More than 2 feet: The amount of rain that fell in two days in the town of Zachary, Louisiana.

— 8 inches: The amount of rain initially forecast on Thursday, with some higher totals possible in some areas.

— 12 percent: The portion of homes in hard-hit Baton Rouge covered by flood insurance; in Lafayette, which has also been hammered, the number is 14 percent.

 From The American Red Cross...

The flooding in ‪#‎Louisiana‬ is likely the worst natural disaster in the United States since 2012’s Superstorm Sandy. Red Cross workers are on the ground, helping to provide shelter, meals and comfort - and more help is on the way. Sunday night more than 10,600 people sought refuge in nearly 50 Red Cross and community shelters in the state. We urgently need the public to join us in supporting Louisiana by making a financial donation today. To help people affected by these unprecedented floods, please visit, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word LAFLOODS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Thank you!
