Family 15 Minutes of Fame

I took up a little bit of space at the bottom of page 78 in this month's 225 Magazine. Here's the link if you want to read it,

I love talking about working in the movies. I miss it terribly! As an artist, even the boring, bug-infested, hot days in a 1900's huge hoop dress, sitting for 12 hours on a movie set is better than sitting in an office. There's no money in it, the pay is minimum wage, but I still loved it. I don't get to do it as much now that I'm working full time and now that I'm fatter. Yes, that matters even for Extras. I've been dying to work on the movie Trumbo filming in New Orleans, but all the requirements say, "must be no larger than a size 6". I still apply, but I don't get called.

Even in Swamp Hollywood, the weight game is the same.

But I still would rather be playing that game than working in an office. I just love being a part of the creative process, a part of making magic.

Enough about me, let me tell you about my kids...

They are all waiting with bated breath for the release of the movie Black and White. They worked on it Summer of 2013; Steele and Abel play Octavia Spencer's grandsons, Dwayne and Abbot. They are her lesbian daughter and her partner's kids. They don't have speaking lines or anything, but they are an actual part of the story, at least they were when filming, no telling what will get cut.

Evangeline also worked on it as one of Rowena's "kids" (You can see her in the back, Abel on the left of this still shot of the trailer, Steele is all the way to the right). She was pretty prevalent during filming, so I hope she makes the cut.

Abel and Evangeline's love working in the movies, both of them would love to go into it as a career. Steele, not so much. He's moody about it, likes it sometimes, doesn't other times.

But all of them loved working on Black and White. It was a wonderfully diverse cast and crew; everyone was so nice, Kevin and Octavia especially, and you just kind of felt like a part of something special. I hope the movie is as good as I think it will be. And I really hope my kids are all up on the big screen!

You can be sure I will be blowing up social media if they are. :-)
