My boss is African American, I asked him the other day what kind of painting he would like me to paint for his office. He said he wanted one of a man standing on a cliff in Africa, looking out over the ocean, and the spirits of Obama, Mandela, and MLK, to be in his for-thought, like in the sky. I couldn't pull off the floating heads thing without it being cheesy, not saying someone else couldn't do it and it look great, I just couldn't find it in me. But I did find an African warrior standing on a cliff.

Reflecting on Black History month, A great book to read is King Leopold's Ghost, it's about the colonization of the Congo. It's not an easy read, colonization was such an extensive evil, but if you want just a snippet of black history, African history, and our history, I recommend reading it.
