Remembering Jordan Gautreau

August 11th 1988 -  November 7th 2010

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, November 10th. Visitation from 8:30am - 12:00pm followed by the funeral service from 12:00pm -1:30pm at the HPC Arena, 19202 Highland Rd. Baton Rouge, LA. 70809

The last thing Jordan said to me was a couple weeks ago at the Dream Center, I had just gotten my hair cut. It was during sound check, I was on the stage, he was in the back by the sound booth. "Mrs. Carole, I love your hair!" He yelled to me and gave me the thumbs up along with a big smile. I said thanks and smiled. Jordan always had a smile. No matter how stressful a Sunday was at the DC, he never let you know that he was stressed. He was just pleasant, all the time.

To say I will miss Jordan does not do justice to the pain, actual physical pain, in my chest right now. He was too young. He was a bright light in dark places. I don't understand. But the truth is, life is not about this, me typing on this computer, writing these words, eating, breathing, loving. All the wonder and joy we feel here, at any given time, is just a small taste of eternity with Jesus. Death for a servant of Jesus is just the doorway into complete love, joy, peace, so I don't need to understand. I just need to lean on God for comfort and know that one day it will all be alright.

Jordan's work here was done. In a short time he loved much. He reflected light. I'm so glad I knew him.

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 1st Corinthians 13:12

This is a video he recorded at the DC one morning at the end of service.

My heart has been so broken. I,too, have found memories of Jordan at BRDC. He and I were at the cafe many times, talking about basketball, his future. He helped set up single moms every Friday night. He will be hugely missed.
I was so sad to find out on Sunday, Nov. 7th, 2010, that Jordan Gautreau was killed at HPC. I never knew Jordan, but from everything that everyone at HPC has said about him, I feel like I already know him. I know that I'll get to meet Jordan in Heaven and that he's done his mission on Earth to spread the word about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. WIth Jordan's death, there is not an ending, but a beginning chapter for him. He was an amazing young man who might not have a future on Earth, but has an eternal future in Heaven with Jesus. We love you Jordan. We'll see you soon.
