I AM THANKFUL
I look at my life, we don't have any money, bills are due, kids need Christmas gifts and the van is in need of major repairs but none of that matters because I just got to be with the poor. The needy, the Hungry, the lost. My problems are nothing. God will take care of us.
I saw Jesus today in the eyes of a homeless man, in the hands of a broken, hurting child, in the words of a grateful mother. How can I not be changed by that. Every time, God uses these amazing people to chip away at ME.
I am thankful that my husband road on a bus through the most dangerous zip code in Baton Rouge, 70805, that is where the Dream Center is. He went to pick up people for a Thanksgiving feast. He laughed with them, even sang with them and he valued them and they knew it.
I am thankful that Evangeline told me she wants to serve at the Dream Center her entire life. she wants to marry someone that serves there and then live there together. She served Tea to our guest tonight like a roller waitress rolling from table to table on her "Heelies".
I am thankful that Steele gets excited at just the mention of going to the Dream Center. He played on the play ground with all the other kids from 5pm till 8pm. Today he only knows integration and equality.
I am thankful for my life. For my family. For my church, and for the opportunity to serve the children of God.
I am thankful that I knew George and that he was my friend. I am thankful that I have many really wonderful friends that keep me accountable, encourage me, rebuke me and love me dearly.
I am thankful that Jesus doesn't EVER give up on us.
I am so thankful.
I think this Thanksgiving will go down as the best Thanksgiving ever.
