Sowing Generously

THIS is a crazy time. My brain is in "Jesus only" mode right now. That's the wonderful place of realizing outside of Him, nothing will get done and doubt will over take me.

Each night my mind races, I am scared. I am overwhelmed with paperwork, what to pack, what not to pack. Do we need shots? How many. Which ones? Should I go by a track suite or sweat suite for the trip? What shoes will I wear with it if I do? Will me jeans be comfortable enough? What books should I bring? Cant be too heavy....etc...etc...etc..

On an on, my mind races. BUT when I retreat to Jesus Only, all gets calm and I find HIM moving me to actions needed and calming me for the ones I just think are needed. No need to fret, yes, no need to fret.

So, needless to say, quite time has well, not been so quite. BUT yesterday I was reading 2 Corinthians and a set of Scriptures really grabbed me.

2 Corinthians 9:6-15 (New International Version)

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:

"He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;his righteousness endures forever."

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

It's a lot, I know. I'm not even sure I "Get" all of what He is trying to tell me. I know there's a lot of meat there for me right now and I must study this.

We have been so blessed financially. Paying for our adoption is a miracle. People have been insanely generous donating to bring Abel home. It's humbling and It has caused us to give more.

The better we get about giving, the better control we have over our finances. Impulse spending has decreased, we are better stewards now. We have far to go but He has really done a lot in our lives financially and I am so thankful.

Maybe God is trying to tell me to be ready to give generously to Abel. Time, Patience, love, understanding, I will need to be generous in all if these.

Maybe this is just God's way of letting me know he has EVERYTHING under control. Even when the world is a mess financially, He has all the money there is and He will make a way where there is no way, like He always does.

I think He may be saying that as long as we give generously, we have nothing to worry about.

I like that.

God is up to something big in 2009.

I love when we "get" it about something. Its just so good. I love to see His hand at work in your life.
