A letter to God from Evangeline

I found this in her room.....

"Dear God,

I want to know why squirrels like nuts?

Lord, you are awesome and how can I be a better person?

How can we be this broke? Will you help me, my mom & dad get money? We need help with our financial problems. What is your plan for us? Are we supposed to live at the Dream Center? Just tell us what we need to do.

I want to know, was the devil ever on earth when you created it? Help me serve everybody that I know is not a Christian.

Why is gum so good?

In your name Amen.

Evangeline"

Dean got a promotion BUT with that promotion came a once-a-month pay day so he got paid on the first but not again until January 1st. Yea, that stinks, so these last few weeks have been "Daily Bread" tight. No eating out, just enough gas, and not even trips to Sonic for Diet Cherry Lemon Aide during happy hour. So, I guess that is where this wonderful letter to God came from.

This was our refrigirator last week.

I told Evangeline that the great thing about having a really empty refrigerator is you can clean it really good. :-)

WE NOW HAVE GROCERIES. So, I don't want anyone thinking I am posting this to get you to give us money or groceries. That is why I waited until after the really bad patch to tell how great God's Daily Bread really is.

See, we had no power for two days the week after Thanksgiving so we went to Lorri and Pat's house, with my niece and her boyfriend too cuz' they had come to visit. Then a week later we had our water cut off but it was right before pay day and so we got it turned back on the next day. The empty fridge was filled by Summer cleaning out her Pantry and treating me to some eggs, milk and meat.

During this time, I would get to the end of the day, lay in bed, and say "Well, here we are, we made it through another day, thank you Jesus." I couldn't see how the next day would be any better, desperation tried to get me a few times but then I would remember what God said;

"Matthew 6:30-32
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them."

And in the mail would be a $100.00 Walmart gift card for Christmas, and a loan from Dean's dad, or Anne would lend us some money, somehow we just had what we needed. He took care of us.

Proverbs 28:27
He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

Psalms 41:1
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.

And basically He said again, "do you trust me?" It's like we are all being tested and educated at the same time. It's painful but it's wonderful like all learning experiences are. We have been through many and I know we will go through many more. The test is in wanting. I want to eat out, I would love some Superior Grill. I want to shop but I can not. So, who will I be desperate for? Him or things? A hot check can get you a $12.00 shirt but it can also get you SEVERAL NSF fees and it is failing the test.

So, life is good. I really don't think I have ever slept sounder or my husband and kids have ever been happier. We are doing what we absolutely LOVE. Dean and Evangeline both would move into the Dream Center in a heart beat, we are doing ministry as a family down there and I really can't tell you how wonderful that is.

We are actually very prosperous, not in money but in the things that really matter. We have daily bread in all it's meaning and that is the greatest life ever!
