Another Cheese Ball "Life is a Song" Moment..

I'm not obsessed with John Mayer like I am the works of Lewis and Tolkien but he is my favorite singer these days. Evangeline got me his latest CD, it's a live CD and it is just phenomenal! I have always loved his lyrics. I am awed by his poetic sense of wording, melodic structure and fantastic guitar playing, but this CD is more blues and just way out of the box for him.

As should be expected, I find many of the songs fit into someone I knows life and when I listen to them I empathize with the person or persons. That is why I am such a passionate music person. For me, even sad songs, redneck songs and a good pick me up dance hit can take me to a good place. Maybe deep into my own shoes for self examination, or into someone else's shoes to empathize with their situation, or just make me want to dance and get my endorphins going and blood pumping which makes you just feel alive and excited. Of course like anything else we enjoy in this life it can never take the place of seeking and worshipping Him. There is no replacement for sacred music that takes me to the ultimate place and puts me in His presence where I can pray for that other person, get rid of that stuff I saw in me and find out where He would have me use this blood pumping vessel to further His kingdom. It's all about balance.

So I said all that to say, the song, Another Kind of Green, by mister John Mayer, is one of toughs songs. I think of friends and myself when I hear it. We don't need Another Kind of Green...

Sara's friend she lost her mind
She left him and made it look sexy now
I fear you won't be far behind
Thinking I'll be the next to leave
But I know I might be anxious
But I'm still not crazy

And I don't need another kind of green to know I'm on the right side with you

I used to be the one you saw
When crying alone to sad songs
But then we go and hit the wall
When nothings changed and nothing's wrong
Your not the perfect hand
But I don't hit on nineteen

And I don't need another kind of green to know
I'm on the right side
I'm on the right side with you
With you

So go and drift away from me
Adopt some new philosophy
That doesn't hold the two of us in mind
Move into someone else's place
(I look at this as speaking of moving into anothers life; interest, needs etc. Not actually "movng in" with them)
Stare into some other's eyes
But slowly only come to realize

That you didn't need another kind of green to know
I'm on the right side
You're on the right side
I'm on the right side with you
Oh, I was on the right side
You don't need to lose to know that you had it good
You don't need to lose it to know that you had it good
You don't need to lose it to know that you had it
Know that you had it
Know that you had it
Don't need to lose it to know that you had it good
